<description>An existing house that the client has been residing in for the last 20 years.

The interior was in need of a more contemporary feel even though the client specifically did not want a clinical space, so the elements that I designed had to still work with the current look of the house as the make-over is happening in phases.

It was a challenging design as I had to balance the architecture, which had a slight country feel with the use of exposed roof trusses, with the client's love for contemporary design.

Palette of warm greys were used throughout with splashes of high gloss colour like the one red door in the study and touches of crisp clean white in the bathrooms.

<description>My Joburg is a toile fabric created by Joburg lovers for Joburg lovers. Being 100% truly South African from the design, hand silkscreen printing and manufacturing of décor items in local factories. This ornately illustrated fabric details the variety found within the metropolis and spans the gamut from typical street scenes to iconic architecture, like the Ponti building, Nelson Mandela Bridge, the War Memorial, Soweto cooling towers, Soccer City in Soweto and parks like Zoo-Lake. The fabric aims to bolster appreciation for the city whilst also promoting positive nation building.

My main responsibilities were the sourcing of all fittings and finishes as well as overseeing the installation thereof. I did the shop fitting design for all the bathroom vanities, built in cupboards and the drawings for the TV/fireplace unit in the main bedroom.
